We know that swimming requires upthrust from water, and the density of the fluid is important in gaining that upthrust. The greater the density of the fluid, the greater the upthrust, which is why swimming in seawater is easier than swimming in fresh river water.

But it is also true that pools are far more secure than the ocean. While swimming in the ocean might be thrilling, there are numerous potential hazards to consider, including sharks, jellyfish, and other sea critters, unpredictable waves, and riptides that can endanger even the best swimmers.
